A Few Important Benefits Of A Waterproof LED Flashlight
If you are looking for a new flashlight, you may want to consider looking into options for a waterproof LED flashlight. LED bulbs have a much longer life than the bulbs found in older flashlights. The batteries last much longer as well. LED is now available in white light, unlike previously. Also, many LED lights are actually waterproof. They are very bright and shock resistant, too.
Light bulbs are known for burning out, especially at the worst possible times. Think about all of the times when a light bulb has burnt out at your home, or in the headlights or turn signals of your car, or in your flashlight. There is nothing more frustrating than when a light unexpectedly goes dark. With LED lights, this is very unlikely to happen. LEDs are usually good for up to one hundred thousand hours.
In addition to the LED bulbs themselves lasting an impressively long amount of time, the batteries in an LED light will also last quite a long time. The battery life will depend on the sort of batteries used. It seems the best batteries for the longest possible life of an LED flashlight are lithium batteries. These batteries, however are more expensive and more difficult to find than the typical AA, AAA or D cell kinds of batteries, and also usually more expensive, so you may also want to take that into consideration.
One of the disadvantages of LED was that they were not available in white light, until recently. For a long time you could find LED lights in all sorts of colors, besides white, which is obviously not practical for many purpose. Now LED lights are brighter and less expensive than ever.
One of the features that really makes LED flashlights more practical than older lights is that many LEDs are actually made to be waterproof. These lights can be completely submersed in water and still function just fine. For lights that you need to use for long periods of time under water, make sure to look for diving lights, since typical flashlights can only be submersed for a short period of time.
The LED style flashlight is also very shock resistant. Even if you drop it, the light will still continue to function - something that was not as common for older flashlights.
If you would like to learn more about a waterproof LED flashlight, look on the Internet. A simple online search should allow you to easily compare prices and features of various lights.
What's a good hi quality LED flashlight for everyday carry/use?
Looking to buy an everyday carry flashlight and just not familiar with the top brands of flashlights out there (besides Maglite). Any help would be appreciated.
My recommendations for an LED flashlight which is to be carried on your person (meaning towards the smaller/lightweight end of the spectrum) are below. They will all fulfill your needs and which one you choose depends on your price range. I personally carry a Fenix E05 on my keychain and love the little thing to death.
Fenix E01

Quark Mini
4Sevens Preon
(All of these lights can be found at 4sevens.com. They have free shipping!)
Streamlight Stylus
Stay away from Maglite, they may have once upon a time been good but that was a long time ago. I'm of the opinion that they now largely exist due to their 'brand image'. Best of luck!
